Milestone completes Sierra’s strategic effort to deliver comprehensive security electronics and detention equipment capabilities to the corrections market

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – September 14, 2026 – Sierra Detention Systems, an APIC Solutions company, has received approval from Southern Folger as a certified Detention Equipment Contractor (DEC), completing the final major step in Sierra’s effort to establish comprehensive SEC/DEC capabilities for detention and corrections projects.
The Southern Folger approval represents the culmination of a focused effort to build the people, experience, credentials and manufacturer relationships necessary to provide customers with a complete approach to detention equipment and security electronics.
For architects, consultants, construction managers and correctional facility leaders, the milestone means Sierra can bring together detention equipment, security electronics and the broader systems integration and electrical capabilities of APIC Solutions within one organization.
The certification further strengthens Sierra’s ability to support new construction, renovations, modernizations and lifecycle service for detention and correctional facilities. Sierra can bring together detention equipment and security electronics under a coordinated approach—from doors, frames, locking systems and detention hardware to electronic controls, video surveillance, access control, intercom and integrated security systems.

Southern Folger’s DEC certification program is designed to ensure that qualified contractors installing its high-security detention products meet established standards for detention experience, financial stability, bonding capacity, experienced personnel and specialized product training.
The approval also gives Sierra’s customers access to Southern Folger’s portfolio of detention products and solutions, combined with APIC Solutions’ experience as a master systems integrator and electrical contractor.
Sierra’s detention work now draws on some of the industry’s most established equipment brands and product lines, including Southern Folger, Southern Steel®, Folger Adam®, RR Brink®, Trussbilt, American Steel Products, and Maximum Security Systems.
The relationship also gives Sierra access to Coastal Detention Holdings’ modular steel cell manufacturing capability through Maximum Security Systems, whose factory-built, fully finished cells are designed to reduce installation time and total project cost for new construction and facility expansions.
Together, Sierra Detention Systems and APIC Solutions are positioned to support detention projects from early planning and coordination through installation, systems integration and ongoing service – giving owners, architects, consultants and contractors a more comprehensive resource for complex correctional environments.
